Jesus don't want me for a sunbeam
Sunbeams are not made like me
Don't expect me to cry
For all the reasons you had to die
Don't ever ask your love of me
Don't expect me to cry
Don't expect me to lie
Don't expect me to die for thee
The Man Who Sold The World
[Inspiration: A David Bowie
cover]
We passed upon the stairs, we spoke
of was and when
Although I wasn't there, he said I was
his friend
Which came as some surprise I spoke into
his eyes
I thought you died alone, a long long
time ago
Oh no, not me
I never lost control
You're face to face
With the man who sold the world
I laughed and shook his hand, and made
my way back home
I searched for form and land, for years
and years I roamed
I gazed a gazley stare at all the millions
here
We must have died alone, a long long time
ago
Who knows, not me
We never lost control
You're face to face
With the man who sold the world
Plateau
[Inspiration:A Meat Puppets
cover, performed with the help of the Meat Puppets ]
Many a hand has scaled the grand old face
of the plateau
Some belong to strangers and some to folks
you know
Holy ghosts and talk show hosts are planted
in the sand
To beautify the foothills and shake the
many hands
The nothing on the top but a bucket and
a mop
And an illustrated book about birds
You see a lot up there but don't be scared
Who needs action when you got words
When you've finished with the mop then
you can stop
And look at what you've done
The plateau's clean, no dirt to be seen
And the work it took was fun
Well the many hands began to scan around
for the next plateau
Some said it was in Greenland and some
in Mexico
Some decided it was nowhere except for
where they stood
But they were all just guesses, wouldn't
help you if they could
Oh, Me
[Inspiration:A Meat Puppets
cover, performed with the help of the Meat Puppets ]
If I had to lose a mile
If I had to touch feelings
I would lose my soul
The way I do
I don't have to think
I only have to do it
The results are always perfect
And that's old news
Would you like to hear my voice
sweetened with emotion
Invented at your birth
I can't see the end of me
My whole expanse I cannot see
I formulate infinity
And store it deep inside of me
Lake Of Fire
[Inspiration: A Meat Puppets
cover, performed with the help of the Meat Puppets ]
Where do bad folks go when they die
They don't go to heaven where the angels
fly
They go down to the lake of fire and fry
Won't see them again till the fourth of
July
I knew a lady who came from Duluth
She got bit by a dog with a rabid tooth
She went to her grave just a little too
soon
And she flew away howling on the yellow
moon
Now the people cry and the people moan
And they look for a dry place to call
their home
And try to find some place to rest their
bones
While the angels and the devils
Fight to claim them for their own
Where Did You Sleep Last Night
[Inspiration: A cover of
the old blues song written by Leadbelly ]
My girl, my girl, don't lie to me
Tell me where did you sleep last night
In the pines, in the pines
Where the sun don't ever shine
I would shiver the whole night through
My girl, my girl, where will you go
I'm going where the cold wind blows
Her husband, was a hard working man
Just about a mile from here
His head was found in a driving wheel
But his body never was found
